FAQ – Online Training of Factor/SQL®

  1. How does this work?

Training will be similar to the classroom format but will be provided using WebEx. Each participant will be provided with a separate instance of Factor/SQL® to login into for the practical training.

  1. What software do I need?

We shall use WebEx that would enable you to view the instructor presentation, whiteboard drawings and demonstrations. You will need remote desktop software on your windows computer to access the hands-on lab computer. WebEx software will get automatically downloaded and installed when you access the meeting, if you have not already got it installed on your computer. Ensure that you have sufficient privileges to install WebEx. Co-ordinate with your IT Team / Administrator in advance to avoid issues at the time of logging in for the training program. This way, you will be well prepared and the class would begin on time for everyone.

  1. Will I be able to see the instructor?

Each instructor computer is outfitted with a webcam. Most instructors use the camera during introductions and briefly when coming back from breaks so that you will be able to “put a voice to a face.” However, video is not running throughout the course. Throughout the class you will be able to see the instructor’s presentation, demonstrations, and the whiteboard drawings.

  1. What if I have a question?

You simply ask a question as you would in a regular class. Speaker phones (or a phone bridge, if required) connect all of the remote classrooms. Usually a group or individual in a remote classroom will mute the microphone so they can talk among themselves during the class or to eliminate external noise. When they need to ask the instructor a question, they simply unmute the microphone and speak up.

  1. What happens if I get stuck in a lab?

Just ask for help like in a regular class. The instructor can make you a presenter and see your screen to assess the nature of the issue you are facing. If necessary, the instructor can take control over your mouse and keyboard to help you with your permission. The instructor will indicate the best method for you to use to get his/her attention for lab help.

  1. Can I take training from my home or office?

Yes, you can attend the training from your home, office or any other convenient place with access to a Windows-based computer having RDP client [Remote Desktop Program], microphone, speaker, integrated camera and high-speed internet connection.
