Technical debt is defined as the cost of fixing application quality problems that, if left unfixed, put the business at serious risk. There is almost £1 million of technical debt in an average IT application, but what does that mean and why should you care about it?
This October, CAST will release its latest worldwide results from the largest analysis of the structural quality of IT business applications ever conducted. Dr. Bill Curtis, Chief Scientist and SVP of CAST Research Labs along with its partner 3i Infotech will discuss the findings and implications from analysing over 800 business applications totalling more than 1 billion lines of code drawn from 8 industry verticals.
Following this thread, Vivek Mahendra, Head - Independent Testing Services, 3i Infotech will illuminate with his pragmatic approach to implementing a Software Quality Gate as a managed service to realise the full benefits of driving down the business risks caused by technical debt. The briefing will provide an informal opportunity for senior level networking with industry peers and to compare notes on this hot topic.
This briefing will outline:
1. What is technical debt, how do you estimate it, and which technologies are most susceptible to it?
2. What technology scores highest and lowest on Security?
3. What industry sectors score best and worst on Performance and Agility, and how does this translate into cost of ownership?
4. How does the size of an application affect its quality?
5. What are the new approaches to measure the cost of quality in Outsourced Application Development and Maintenance?
